The vintage and traditional type of chandeliers use candle lights or incandescent lights for illuminations and have yellow-tinted illumination while modern chandeliers have fluorescent or LED light bulbs and give bright white luminescence. Lighting chandeliers with candle lights is not practically possible on an everyday basis hence modern chandeliers have electric bulbs that are designed to look like candle lights.
Chandeliers date all the way back to the medieval times. The only people to have chandeliers during this time were the wealthy and the lights could be moved from room to room. If the lighting was needed in a different room it was picked up and carried. The chandelier was then set down and relit if any of the candles had gone out.
From the central fixture the chandelier arms extend outward to serve as bases for light bulbs candles and ornaments. They are usually made from the same materials as the base (metal brass or wood). In the case of antler chandeliers it is the deer antlers themselves that serve as the lighting fixture s arms. The styles of chandelier arms also vary including S-shaped fluted or roped design.
Chandeliers are defined as ornate lighting fixtures that are suspended from the ceiling which come with two or more branches or tiers. The structure of the chandelier serves several purposes namely to hold the light bulbs and other chandelier parts that add to the structural integrity lighting function and aesthetic value of the fixture.
When you re speaking of chandeliers the first thing you must speak about is chandler lighting. The lighting coming off of a chandelier is always beautifully brilliant and magnificent. There are many chandeliers that actually enhance that brilliance. Chandelier makers have always strove to create the most light output. Many makers have created whole pieces that are made of reflective silver so that they could increase the light output. Certain styles of chandelier have placed mirrors around or among the bulbs to increase the light going into the room. When you place mirrors on a chandelier not only do you increase output you also increase the ability to play with the lighting. With a small twist of a mirror the light is bounced to another part of the room or made to hit another mirror. With that thought in mind you also have the ability to cut and etch the mirrors to create a large range of visual effects from rainbows to circles to a split beam that dances on the wall. The way a chandelier lights up the room is a magnificent sight.
The main factor that determines the price of a chandelier are the various materials that are used in its crafting. Good examples are wrought iron chandeliers. Because iron is a common metal these chandeliers are definitely more affordable. Other pluses for iron chandeliers include their easy maintenance and the number of styles to choose from. In contrast glass and brass chandeliers are more meticulous to craft and require frequent cleaning and maintenance thus causing the prices to shoot up. Special types of glass can also double or triple the price tag of chandeliers. These include Tiffany glass and Murano glass. The use of Swarovski crystals over imitation gems can also drive up the chandelier s price.
